Is the Puppy Foundation Programme Right for You?
This programme is suitable for new and experienced owners who want practical support raising a calm, confident and well-rounded dog.
I can help if:
You’re preparing to bring a puppy home
You’ve recently welcomed a puppy into your family
Toilet training isn’t progressing as expected
Biting, mouthing or jumping up is becoming difficult
Your puppy struggles to settle or sleep
You want to introduce crate training positively
Your puppy pulls on the lead or loses focus outdoors
Recall disappears as soon as something interesting appears
You’re unsure how to socialise your puppy safely
Your puppy seems nervous or overwhelmed by new experiences
You want to prevent separation-related difficulties
You need the whole household to follow the same approach
You don’t have to wait for a problem to develop. You can contact me before your puppy comes home so we can discuss preparation, routines, equipment and how to make the first few weeks easier.
What Will My Puppy Learn?
The programme is shaped around your puppy’s development and what matters most to your household. We can work on:
Toilet training and creating a manageable daily routine
Puppy biting, mouthing and chewing
Name recognition, attention and engagement
Recall around gradually increasing distractions
Loose-lead walking and introducing walking equipment
Settling calmly at home and in public
Crate or safe-space training
Building confidence around new places and experiences
Appropriate greetings without jumping up
Handling for grooming, veterinary care and everyday life
Learning to spend time alone
Impulse control and emotional regulation
Safe interaction with children, visitors and other animals
Breed-specific enrichment and appropriate play
Understanding your puppy’s body language
Preventing reactivity, resource guarding and separation-related distress
We’ll also look at puppy socialisation. This doesn’t mean encouraging your puppy to meet every dog or person they see. It means introducing them safely to the environments, sounds, people and experiences they’re likely to encounter while helping them remain calm and connected to you. The aim isn’t simply to teach a list of commands. It’s to help you understand how your puppy learns and give you practical skills you can continue using as they grow.
How Does the Puppy Foundation Programme Work?
The complete programme provides 6.5 hours of one-to-one training. It includes an initial 1.5-hour session followed by five one-hour sessions, which can be spaced according to your puppy’s development. Sessions begin at your home, where many early challenges occur. As your puppy becomes ready, we can move into nearby parks, walking routes, town centres or other suitable environments to practise around real-life distractions.
The programme includes:
● A training plan tailored to your puppy and household
● Detailed notes after every session
● Access to relevant training videos
● WhatsApp support between sessions
● Training at home and in suitable local environments
● The flexibility to adapt the plan as your puppy develops
At-home training can begin before your puppy has completed their vaccinations. We can work on routines, toilet training, biting, handling, settling and other early
foundations without visiting public areas. Outdoor sessions will begin when it’s safe and consistent with your vet’s advice. Partners, children and other members of the household are also welcome to participate, with children appropriately supervised.
Puppy Foundation Price
The complete programme costs £320. If you’re not ready to commit to the full programme, you can begin with a 1.5-hour taster session for £65. You can then book the remaining five sessions for £265.
If you receive income-related support and cost is preventing you from accessing training, please contact me to discuss the available options.
Book a free call to tell me what’s happening and what you’d most like help with. We can then decide whether the complete Puppy Foundation programme, a taster session or online support is the right next step.
